Th Unkown Threat: Chapter 4

The Unknown Threat

12 hours earlier. “Have you seen Hulken dear,” Dale said. “No I have not dear, do you think he could be at Lacky’s house?” Arial said. “Well that could be a possibility, I just don’t know” Arial said.

“I think something is not right about they way he has been acting, also there was a strange looking man asking for him. I think that we should notify the community that he is missing” Dale said.

“Well, that sounds like a good Ideal, I will try and see if I can talk to Toront about it.” Arial said.

“Alright, well that means I need to speak with ole Ben, he can usually spread the word faster than anyone else I know.” Dale said.

While the parents of Hulken were worried and concerned for their captured son, the mysterious red capped man went underground to find some answers. Under the dark stalagmite was a metal fixture that appeared to be in the shape of a door. This geometric feature stood out from the rest of the landscape. Everything surrounding the door was rocky and restless with texture. The swiveling door made an eerie creak that engulfed a small part of the cavern in noise. As Viola entered the cavern, he clicked the heel of his boots twice and a light shined forth from his boots. This part of the cavern did not have mirrors and seemed more ancient than the modern part of the cavern.

After walking some time in the cavern, Viola had begun to tip toe through an area. “Nosil sir, the shipments are on schedule sir” a voice said.

“Well, don’t just stand there make sure the other preparations are intact and the new entrances are sealed off” another more audible voice said.

“Yes, sir” the first voice answered.

“Nosil sir, we have two villagers who happened to spot us making night entrance demolitions. What shall we do with them sir?” a third voice said.

“Kill them for all I care, just make sure no one knows that we are destroying the new entrances to the caverns. I want to make sure that we are the only ones to have access to the caverns unless the villagers go to the Citadel. It’s time for the KOTL to loose contact with this village” the second voice said.

“but sir, what if one of the prisoners happens to be the one we are looking for, they both look young and one of them could be him.” the voice said.

“Don’t make stupid accusations, you know that the one we are looking for has a birthmark of the sun and earth on his back,” Nosil said.

After Viola had successfully listened to the voices in front of him, it had dawned on him who he was dealing with. The KOTL have one major enemy. It is said that the KOTL are descendants from the Oruscians. It was said that they have kept with them the secrets of technology in case the Oruscian’s old enemy ever returned. Although the Oruscians were a dominant people, they still did not occupy or conquer all of Ithium. It was said that the first humans reached this planet on a mighty ship that was traveling the universe until it crash landed on Ithium. When the first humans arrived to this planet it was inhabitable and so the humans had to transform the planet to live here. This teraforming process was only a theory when the first humans came to Ithium. When these humans created the atmosphere, they could only stay above the surface for a certain amount of time before they would get radiation poisoning. Because they did not enjoy the surface, they made underground cities and maintained self sufficiency without sunlight by converting the underground soil into energy. They were able to maintain most of their technology; however, they had lost their ability to travel in space. From then on, they considered space travel a abomination. They prohibited people from living on the surface and killed those who opposed. These people were known as the Casrillians. They became so dependent on rock that they no longer saw the sun and became completely consumed by the darkness of the underground lifestyle. Some rebellious outcast ventured onto the surface in hopes of escaping the Casrillian lifestyle. Although the surface was only livable for a short time, most people thought it was unwise to stay above the surface for too long. The few people that started to live on the surface had developed such a tolerance that they were finally able to live on the surface. When these humans successfully adapted to the surface they had fully forgotten their advanced technology. The effects of living on the surface made them increasingly animal like. Because these humans were like cavemen, The Casrillians did not consider them a real threat, and severed their contact with the surface. After a millennium of living on the surface a human tribe was able to float in the skies. These peoples were known as the Oruscians. Because the Casrillians did not survey the surface, humans had fully overcome and fully adapted to the environment, leaving their minds unaffected by the radiation. Humans were able to evolve their technology on the surface as well; they were able to create flying castles and giant mecha cities. Once the Casrillians discovered that there were intelligent humans living on the surface, they became hostile. Because of these peoples differences, war broke out between the two great technological groups. After 500 years of fighting, the Casrillians surrendered and were almost wiped out; however, they had one city, Galactica that was left in the core of the planet. This city was what made them survive to this day; however, they have not been seen in over 4,000 years. Although the Casrillians were defeated in their war with the Oruscians, they were the only ones capable of competing with the Oruscian’s technological abilities. This is why some say that the KOTL was made to ensure that Casrillians never reached the surface.

Viola had never actually encountered a Casrillian before; however, he had read and studied Casrillians since his training. The KOTL are so secret that not even the eldest, smartest, or wisest person living in Rabboth Top would know about them. To be an agent for the KOTL meant that one was taken at an early age and taught all of the sciences, arts, and disciplines of the lost, ancient, and forbidden peoples of Ithium.

Viola knew that something was amiss. Viola was going to contact HQ; however, because Viola was underground he could not communicate with his inter continental telecommunication device that was located under his sleeve. Instead of trying to warn HQ of the possible Casrillian threat, Viola decided to hunt for the prisoners the voice had talked about in the cavern. “This could be my break out of this hell hole,” Viola said to himself as he made the decision to see if one of these kids were the one. Viola followed the sound of footsteps with a certain graceful quietness so that not even the smallest sound would escape the clutches of his ears. Every movement Viola made was done with careful calculation and anticipation. The possibility that he might be heard was something he could gamble on since he knew that he had the element of surprise.

While walking down the dark corridor, Viola noticed that most of the walls easily lit up when light decided to appear. The underground caverns are specially made with special stones that only frilliest know how to extract from the earth. The stones make light easy to project from.

“HEY, over here!” a voice from the distance said. When the vibration of the voice reached Viola’s ears, he became cautious and froze his stance knowing that motion catches the human eye. Although no sound vibrations were getting closer to Viola, he kept still. Another voice in the dark said, “What is it, I don’t see anything?”

“Well, the prisoners are not here, the have escaped” the other voice said.

When Viola heard both of the voices he decided that it was time to find a way out. He climbed the wall towards the vent that connected itself to an airway…

Meanwhile, back at Lacky’s house a pair of distressed parents venture out to talk to the Flintwoods.
