The Sunlight
“If he would have just stayed over here the night my boy came warning you that he was being followed, why did you not believe him” Mr. Flintwood said to Mr. Baner.“I am sorry, I don’t know. I thought he was lying to me, he is always looking for adventure. I thought that he was making one up.” Mr. Baner said. There was really nothing they could do at this point, their sons had been missing for seven days and all was lost to them. It did not bring there sons back; however, they came over to each others house each day to get comfort that others were suffering with them. Both Mr. Flintwood and Mr. Baner went about their days with their faces put down because of the guilt for not protecting their sons enough. The productivity as far as farm work was concerned was horrible. It was as if everyone was turning lame with chronic fatigue. They were really depressed. After the Mayor was finally convinced it was necessary to send out a search party, Nosil thrust out his authority and made sure that the search party did not go far. The search party was interrupted by the Mantis squad. Nosil had designed and recruited the Mantis squad from around Ithium. Each one in the seven man squad brought a unique, deadly, and lethal ability to the table. The team cohesion and ability to carry out any mission would have been legendary; however, the team was recently created and their ability was untested. The seven men were recruited from all around Ithium. Some of the recruits were found in either the most remote places or the most urban places Ithium had to offer. Nosil had created the Mantis squad with the sole purpose of defeating the KOTL. Their response time, accuracy, and deadly abilities made them extremely dangerous to the KOTL. Unluckily for the KOTL and the search party sent out to look for the two sons of Rabboth Top, they have never been seen together unless called upon by Nosil. When the mayor decided to send out the search party they had reached as far out of the city as possible before they were hacked down by the seven man squad. The leader of the squad was a man named Horatio Cortez. Horatio has the ability to hack down any opponent and has never lost a battle. He is a true Tigon master of the sword. The Tigon style can only be learned in the most remote artic poles of Ithium. At the artic poles a radiated rainbow colors the surface were they say the student of Tigon has to stare at sky until he can only see the magnetic radiation consume his vision. During this trance which is like the final black belt test, the student becomes the master. The Tigon warrior during this trance fights an opponent who can see the future move the student will make. After the battle is won the student becomes master and can from then forth see any move an opponent could possible make. This style of fighting is passed down from one generation to the next; however, it can only be passed down every 35 years. Being only two masters alive is the work of a Tigon. Horatio cared little for the money or power that Nosil provided. He hacked down every member of the search party; his only concern was to find the ancient artifact that he knew Nosil would lead him to.
In the prevailing time, Voila and the two sons of Rabboth Top look for a way out of the dark, desolate, and harsh caverns.
“hey, why do you have metal boots?” Lacky asked.
“They are just special to me” Viola answered. It was evident that Viola had not turned on the flashlight his boots were equipped with. There was more behind his boots than meet the eye. The boots of any KOTL member have special gadgetry inside of them; however, they are all equipped with the ability to ride the intercontinental rail system. The intercontinental rail system was a transportation system that only the KOTL knew about. The transportation system was mainly used in areas that could not be navigated. Because Fleace was surrounded by water, there would not be a rail system for Viola to use. The rail system was used usually in ancient areas of Ithium where the technology was used. The boots also make it possible for KOTL agents to get to their HQ. Because the KOTL were adamant about not sharing technology to the people of Ithium, Viola was persistent to not use anything that might raise an eyebrow to the boys. The KOTL only shared technology to the least harmful people because it could be useful to them; however, whenever the people of Ithium started to use technology for war, they would make sure they would dispose of the technology without killing anybody. Because of the attitude this unparticular KOTL agent was not ordinary and sort of outlandish; he was more relaxed about everything. Viola had such an experience after he graduated from agent school that it made him extremely different from the rest of his pier agents. Most agents go to extreme lengths to execute everything orderly, scheduled, and perfect. Viola was not afraid of breaking protocol. When he graduated from agent school and was sent on his first mission he was betrayed by one of his partners. This effect on his moral was severe. The worst part of the incident was that he was almost convinced to join in on the plot that his partner had schemed. There is a certain oath that all KOTL members have to say growing up. This oath is as follows:
Before my eyes I shall protect, preserve, and save any knowledge that comes in my way. I shall not use knowledge to power my ambition to do evil; I will not destroy people over technology. I will destroy any evil technology that is in the wrong hands. When the time the black sun prophecy arrives, I shall disband my oath to the KOTL and follow and pledge a new oath to the one who will save Ithium. I shall protect the royal line the Oruscians commanded us to protect. I shall never be let seen with my knowledge or superior technology unless my life or the lives around me are in danger.
This was the Oath that Viola had recited and memorized growing up. The oath was not always the same, It has changed throughout the years; however, it wasn’t until the Great surface war that the KOTL had vowed to ensure that ignorance was supplied across Ithium. Before the war the KOTL was originally called the KOI, Knights of Ithium. There main purpose was to protect the royal bloodline that the Oruscians left behind in case the Casrillians ever ventured to the surface again. Because the technologies the Casrillians and Oruscians left behind when they left the public eye, the peoples of Ithium used the technology to gain power and control over the weak. They eventually almost had all of Ithium destroyed; however, if it was not for the patrons of Younic then Ithium would have gone through a devastating eruption. During the Great Surface War, the City States of Gnosis were devising a machine that would destroy half the planet with sub atomic technology. Their enemy was located on the northern hemisphere of Ithium. Luckily the Patrons of Younic were there in time; however, the machine that the peoples of Gnosis created was sabotaged. The machine wiped out almost everyone’s memory living on the surface of Ithium. The mind wiping machine made men resort to caveman instincts and the world of Ithium was in chaos. Only a handful of people survived with their memories intact; because the technology was still there, the Patrons of Younic advised the destruction of all technology so that man could start over on Ithium. The KOI were still undamaged and took the responsibility, making them the spreaders of ignorance world wide. They changed their name and most of their mission statements. They were the sole protectors of Ithium, yet they were the ones who instilled ignorance within the people. They did not intervene in Ithium’s wars and they did not share with the world their own technology.
Because Viola’s old partner had betrayed the order and yearned for power to destroy, he was cast out of the KOTL. Viola was later sent on a mission to destroy his old partner. Viola’s mission was successful. Viola was sent on the mission because the order believed that Viola could have been inspired or converted by his partner. They assumed that this mission was important to see if his loyalty was still there. After Viola came back from his mission, he did not look the same. He was changed. No longer did he appreciate the organizations mandates or orders. He was becoming more and more independent from the organization; however, he did not rebel because he wanted to change the way the KOTL did things because he always assumed that if got a position of power he could change things.
Something that bothered Viola more than anything was trying to find a way out of the cavern. He knew that he would need to shoot an explosive round in order to get everyone out of the cavern. Unluckily for the KOTL, Viola did not intend to use minimal force. He thought it was appropriate to tell Hulken about why he was here and what he was doing. Unfortunately, he could only explain things to Hulken if the blood test were positive. He had to reach the surface. “alright, kids watch your head, I think this is the spot” Viola said.
“What are you talking about” I replied.
“Just stand back, if my calculations are correct, I believe the surface is right above us” Viola said.
“What do you plan on doing; there is a huge chunk of earth separating us from the surface.”
“Wait and see, just stand back.”
“Boom!” The sound of the cavern exploding was quickly over as the tremor preoccupied my concern. I was distraught, amazed, confused, and most of all bedazzled by the blast. The flames were wild, the rock shattering in all different directions, and the furious speed of it all was consuming my eyes. The whole event happened in a flash. It was truly wordless, awesome, incredible, and powerful. I now realized that this man was not a farmer and that my plot in had to more than coincidence. I wanted answers to the many questions that were filling my head. I wanted the knowledge or the magic that I thought this man possessed. The earth that had laid above us came rushing down, scattering pieces of rock all over the area. I rushed out of the way frantically. I dodged and ducked while glancing at the roof of the cavern. It was pure sunlight. I saw the first real sunlight in week. It was not too blinding; however, when I looked straight up the sun was directly parallel with us and the sun hit my eyes with a penetrating array of light. I turned away from the brightness and checked to see if everyone else was alright. I did not want to express my emotion at the time, knowing that Viola could use my emotion to his advantage. I just glared as if it was something natural. On the other hand, Lacky was dumbfounded. He looked around the roof of the cavern with his eyes wide open. He did not even blink while the rocks were falling right beside him. Viola just calmly strutted around the two of us as if he was the man in charge. I hated the authority that Viola had over us; however, I was drawn to Viola. I felt like he was my ticket out of this town. I felt that I needed to be with this man in order to find the missing link I had with always had growing up in a place like this. I also looked up to the attitude Viola had about everything. It was rouge, tough, rebellious, new, and most of all it made me feel free when I was around Viola. The one thing that truly attached me to this man was that he had bested my defense; I believe that submission is something that is earned. I did not realize it then; however, my first real adventure had truly begun when I meet Viola…
